Don't you just love people that go five under the speed limit in the fast lane, and look at you like YOU'RE crazy when you go around to pass?
This is the thread about driving, the road, acrs, and motors, and other related ill shit.
What are YOU sporting out and about on the road?

dont you also hate it when people just ride your ass when you are doing the speed limit, and then flip you off when they pass you.... :P

I was watching mythbusters earlier, about semi's. They found that at 55 MPH you get a 44% (ish) increase in fuel economy if you are 10 feet away from the back of a semi. and being just 100 feet back gives an increase as well. But is that worth risking your life and your car?

As bad as the economy and gas is.. its cheaper to hire a mexican tp push your car then it is to fill it up with gas.

I love how people talk about how much gas is wasted by driving "hard". I drive about 90 miles a day, and I've got gas economy down to a science. How I drive doesn't make a damn difference.
You know what did? I took all the extra seats out of my vehicle. Granted, it's a minivan, but if you're stuck with something huge and only one passenger, taking out seats can save you hundreds of dollars over a few months.
You know what I hate? People who form a little cluster and drive 53 MPH on the highway, because there's a cop nearby. If they'd just relax and drive like normal people, they wouldn't get a ticket - cops don't pick random cars out of a group going one speed.
The other thing that pisses me off is listening to people whine and moan because that awful cop gave them a ticket for going only 14 miles and hour over in a residential area, because they were going downhill. Nothing gives you the right to endanger kids who dare to play outside their houses.

Dont you hate it when people are in the fast lane, and only going the speed limit? If you're not going with the flow, you're more of a hazard. More the fuck over when you see people closing on you.

A lot of roads around here are on the sides of hills, and have dips and rises.
everybody drives around at night with their fog lights on, and its not foggy or rainy. I think they don't even know they have them on. I think half of them don't even know that they even HAVE fog lights. Idiots.
It's not so bad on a flat road, but the hills around here.... I guarantee they have no clue why I flash my highbeams at them, because they never turn the damn fog lights off.
How many posts till I'm a "Member"?

I drive with my fog lights on. I just think it makes my car look more fancy and shit. Also when my fog lights are on, I can see much further from left to right. But who knows, I've got those fancy headlights that blind people when they're in front of me.
When I'm on my motorcycle, I drive with my highbeam on during the day. Eat it, cage drivers.

I drive with high beams to mask the fact that I can't seem to keep two functioning low-beams.

When I drive, it's usually my '03 Hyundai Accent. For something that has a $9500 sticker price when it's new, it really kicks ass.
Got me from LA (near the coast) to Vegas in four hours... almost exactly 300 miles, and averaging 36 MPG. :D
my dad has a bunch of interesting cars but I'm too lazy to discuss them right now.
Pet peeves include old people, slow drivers, idiotic spoiled high school punks who drive their expensive cars into the ground in only a couple of years, automatics, and people who do the "California roll".
Oh, and ricers and the retards who manufacture dozens of identical black (or green) Toyota pickups with useless baja kits- flared fenders, cheapass mickey thompson knockoffs, etc. I mean, seriously, I could do a whole thread about tasteless car "mods" that I see everywhere.

I hate it when people will cut off everyone in a short distance in order to get to the other side of the road.
For example, driver Steve (inherently Evil name) doesn't know where he's going. He thought the Waffle House was on the right hand side of the road, but suddenly he sees it on the corner off his left eye. Steve doesn't have much room to get to the left lane to take a left turn. Instead of going to the next intersection and making a U-Turn, he forces himself across the road, cutting off who ever he needs to go get to where he wants to be. This causes other drivers to nearly hit him. Steve is also blocking the middle or right lane because half of his ass is still in that lane. This happens a lot around here.

I actually went looking for new ford pickups last year... but decided my 18 year old truck should make it to 21, then I'm gonna fill it with ethanol and see what happens..
So far this year..
completely rebuilt the brakes front to back... master cylinder, most of the lines, new disks in front, drums in back, brake spring rebuild kits all around.
grease seals in front, all new leafs springs in the back, sway bar ends, radius arm bushings (those were a real pain because they're hangers are riveted from the factory, had to grind off ten 5/8's rivets), then of course 4 new tires and a front end alignment.
still gotta do the rear grease seals, and tighten my stickshift linkages. just havent had time yet, I'll probbly put shocks all around too.
Even with all of that, it's still cheaper than making payments on a new pickup. the only thing I didnt do myself is the tires and the alignment.

.....then I'm gonna fill it with ethanol and see what happens..
You don't know what's going to happen? Your engine is going to detonate, now that's when the air fuel mixture ignites itself and overheats the combustion chamber. When it happens combustion becomes uncontrolled and sporadic and produces a pinging noise that is also called a "knock".
This all happens because 100% ethanol has a much higher octane than pump gasoline, according to wikipedia it's 129.
So pretty much you'll kill it for good.

I have enough car stories to last a lifetime.
Currently driving an '01 P.T. Cruiser. I got a set of rims and a (minor) boom boom sound system in it. I might post pics sometime. I loves my PT. Its like... the gas milage of a little car, the interior space of a minivan or smaller SUV. The seats all fold down and come out. Got the old timey look to it. I fuckin' love it.

You don't need lessons - just get someone to drive with you for a little bit and take the test. I waited until I was old enough to not have to take driving school, so I only took the written, practiced a bit with the parents, then took the driving test.

ooh, right - I forgot that you're not in CA or even the U.S. What's the system like for you people? Here, after age 17.5 or something, driving school/lessons aren't required.

Well, we have a thing called a "Driving Test" to ensure that we can "Drive" before being allowed to "Drive" a motor vehicle. Funny, right?

Dude, thats hilarious. All we have to do here is have the parent sign off as long as you've had your permit for the required time and presto, you've got your license. No test needed. Gotta love Texas.

^---- That's stupid, something like this could lead to big problems. I held off on getting my drivers license for two reasons: 1) I didn't feel ready for the responsibility of driving and 2) I don't want to risk being injured/maimed/killed by some other teen my age that's drunk (there are a shit load of them around where I live).

I have a motorcycle and a car license. I'm also certified by my old job to run large trackers and loaders.
No wonder no one can beat my Chopper Challenge high score.

There's at least one student at my school every year who is killed by a drunk driver in my town, but i'ts surprising how little we hear of traffic problems. However, cars are very unfriendly to bikes. I can get just about anywhere though in this small college town within 10 minutes though.

M1A2Abrams.. about the ethanol... I figure my truck will be old enough to drink, so give it a party!
Sunday I finally found time to do the last things I wanted to do, figured now I can start doing the optional stuff, I got some new speakers....
But NOOOO, it had other Ideas, today the radiator is leaking. Should I just put in some of that stops-leak stuff, or go all the way and remove the radiator, take it to the shop, get it fixed right, then put it back in?

On Mythbusters, they confirmed a myth that if you crack an egg into the radiator, it will actually plug up the leak.
